SYFY’s Revival came out big for San Diego Comic-Con 2025. The cast and showrunners of the show had a panel and a press junket to talk about the series, which is based on a comic book adaptation. We sat down to speak with Melanie Scrofano and Romy Weltman, two of the stars from the breakout hit on SYFY. The show was created by the minds of Aaron Koontz and Luke Boyce which is adapted from the comic book of the same name. Revival haunts us with a powerful question: How do we treat people we see as “different”? As Scrofano explained, the genre isn’t just for thrills; it’s a vehicle to explore profound messages without feeling like a lecture. It’s a sentiment that resonates with the show’s ever-growing fanbase.

During the interview, we touched on the powerful, unbreakable bond between their characters, sisters Dana and Em. This connection, they shared, wasn’t just for the cameras. Scrofano and Weltman spoke of an immediate and deep-seated trust that formed between them almost instantly, allowing them to bring a raw and genuine sisterhood to the screen. This real-life friendship became an anchor, especially when navigating the show’s emotionally turbulent waters. They touched on the immense challenge of portraying such profound human experiences, a task that required both actors to dig deep into their own vulnerabilities.

Photo Credit: Carlo Pasquale / 4GQTV

Weltman, who plays the resurrected and fragile Em, opened up about the extensive research she undertook to portray her character’s struggles with addiction, emphasizing the immense responsibility of depicting mental health with sensitivity and care. In a moment of raw honesty, Scrofano revealed how a personal loss she experienced during filming reshaped her perspective and informed her performance. When asked how her character, Dana, a dedicated police officer, juggles her duty with the fierce need to protect her revived sister, Scrofano was clear: for Dana, “humanity always supersedes the badge.” Family, in the world of Revival, is the ultimate law.

This theme of strength in vulnerability was echoed by Weltman as she described Em’s journey. Her character, though terrified and physically fragile after being brought back to life, discovers that embracing her emotions is what truly makes her strong. It’s a journey Weltman relates to personally, having often been underestimated herself. The interview at Comic-Con offered more than just a behind-the-scenes peek; it was a testament to the passion and humanity that Scrofano and Weltman pour into Revival, making it one of the most compelling and thought-provoking shows on television today.

You can watch Revival on the SYFY channel or through the Peacock TV app.

Picture this: I’m sitting down with Leo and Zach, the musical masterminds behind the score for Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and I’m buzzing with excitement. As the biggest self-proclaimed Spider-Man fan on 4GQTV, I couldn’t wait to dive into how they crafted the soundscape for our favorite web-slinger. What I got was a wild ride through anime vibes, lo-fi beats, and a dash of villainous flair that’ll make you want to hit play on the full interview over on Spotify.

I kicked things off by asking what inspired them when they landed the gig. Leo didn’t hesitate: their approach is all about pushing boundaries. “We go as hard as we can in a direction and see how much we can get away with,” he said, hinting at the bold choices that make their work unforgettable. For Spider-Man, the animation sparked two big ideas. First, anime—think high-energy rock, pop, and orchestral blends that scream youthful MCU spirit. Second, New York City itself, with its lo-fi hip-hop pulse and jazzy roots, perfectly capturing Peter Parker’s teenage world. Wrestling those into one cohesive score? That’s the magic they spent the season perfecting.

Curious about the iconic opening, I was surprised when Zach dropped a bombshell: “We did everything but the theme song.” That’s right—the catchy opener is by Math Club and others, but Leo and Zach handled all the underscore and end credits, weaving their sonic web through every episode. And when it comes to villains like Doc Ock or Vulture, they had a blast. Zach lit up talking about giving Doc Ock a quirky string quartet vibe and Vulture a heavy metal edge—each baddie gets a musical personality that’s as fun to hear as it is to watch.

As a synthwave fan, I had to know if that ‘80s nostalgia seeped in. Zach, a former synth artist, grinned. “It’s always in the back of our heads,” he admitted. While they didn’t go full Cobra Kai with it, that cinematic nostalgia vibe still sneaks into the mix—especially in Peter’s everyday moments, like chatting with Lani in the school hallway, which they both adore scoring more than any action scene.

So, how do they hint at a villain’s turn? Leo explained it’s a delicate dance—sometimes foreshadowing, sometimes keeping it a surprise, all guided by the script. And no, they didn’t dig into old Marvel cartoons for inspiration—they wanted this to be their Spider-Man, fresh and original.

By the time we wrapped up (with a quick pineapple-on-pizza debate—Leo’s a firm yes, Zach’s a chill maybe), I was hooked. Their passion for blending wild influences into Peter Parker’s world is infectious. Want the full scoop, from Russian techno Unicorns to their favorite slice-of-life beats? Swing over to Spotify and listen to our chat—it’s a score worth hearing in full.

Exploring the Mysteries of Skinwalker Ranch

The U.S. government, particularly the Defense Intelligence Agency, has shown interest in the ranch since the early 2000s. The current owner, Brandon Fugal, continues to support scientific research on the property. The video highlights various unexplained events, including electromagnetic disturbances and physical phenomena, and emphasizes the importance of public interest and funding for ongoing research.

Skinwalker Ranch, a 512-acre property in Utah, has been a hotspot for unexplained phenomena for over a century. Located about three hours east of Salt Lake City, the ranch has a long history of strange occurrences, including UFO sightings, shape-shifting creatures, and mysterious lights. The ranch’s enigmatic reputation has attracted the attention of scientists, government agencies, and the public alike.

A Hub of Scientific Investigation

Unlike typical paranormal investigations, the research at Skinwalker Ranch is grounded in scientific rigor. The team, led by experts like Travis Taylor and Jay Stratton, employs advanced instruments and methodologies to uncover the truth behind the phenomena. The U.S. government’s interest in the ranch dates back to the early 2000s when the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) initiated a UFO program. This program led to a contract with Bigelow Aerospace, a company known for its work in the aerospace industry.

Government Involvement and Findings

The DIA’s involvement brought a new level of scrutiny and resources to the investigation. The program addressed the numerous reports of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and other strange activities at the ranch. Despite extensive research, many questions remain unanswered, and the phenomena continue to baffle investigators.

Electromagnetic Anomalies

One of the most intriguing aspects of Skinwalker Ranch is its electromagnetic anomalies. The entire property is a hotspot for electromagnetic disturbances, causing GPS systems and clocks to malfunction. Data cards and cameras frequently fail, often at critical moments.

Unexplained Phenomena and Personal Experiences

The investigators have documented numerous unexplained events, including physical evidence of electronic systems being hacked. Personal experiences of the team members add another layer of intrigue. Many have reported emotional and physical effects while on the property, ranging from feelings of fear and anger to physical pain and disorientation.

The Ongoing Quest for Answers

The research at Skinwalker Ranch is far from over. The team continues to explore the mysteries of the property, driven by a desire to understand the unknown. Public interest and funding are crucial for the continuation of this groundbreaking work. As the investigation progresses, the hope is that one day, the secrets of Skinwalker Ranch will be fully revealed.

**From Film School to Game Development: The Journey of Alex Cuk**

In a recent interview, Alex Cuk, an LA Film School alumnus and Ubisoft Associate Producer, shared his fascinating journey from film school to the video game industry. Alex's story is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance in the creative fields.

**Early Beginnings and Film School Experience**

Alex's interest in both games and film began during his time at LA Film School. The school's hands-on approach allowed him to explore various aspects of filmmaking while also delving into the world of video games. It was here that he first encountered game jams, collaborative events where participants create games within a short time frame. This experience sparked his transition from film to game development.

**First Steps in Game Development**

Alex's first significant foray into game development came with a 48-hour game jam. Despite having limited knowledge, he and his friends managed to create a game that caught the attention of investors. This led to a one-year exclusivity deal with PlayStation, marking the beginning of his career in the indie game scene. Balancing film school and game development was challenging, but the skills and ideas from both fields complemented each other.

**Challenges and Stress in Indie Game Production**

The journey from indie game development to AAA production was not without its hurdles. Alex discussed the stress and challenges of creating an indie game, from marketing to quality assurance. The pressure of meeting investor expectations and ensuring the game's success was immense. However, these experiences also provided valuable lessons in project management and teamwork.

**Creative Process and Current Projects**

After the release of his first game, Alex and his team took a brief hiatus to work on a documentary. This project allowed them to de-stress and explore a different creative avenue. Alex emphasized the importance of the creative process and how it differs between film and game production. Currently, he is involved in various projects, including a docuseries on conventions, showcasing his versatility and passion for storytelling.

**Insights into AAA Game Production**

Transitioning to AAA game production brought new challenges and opportunities. Alex highlighted the role of producers in maintaining morale and ensuring the smooth progression of game development. He also discussed the importance of recognizing individual contributions within a large team, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among developers.

**Conclusion**

Alex Cuk's journey from film school to the video game industry is a compelling narrative of creativity, resilience, and passion. His experiences underscore the interconnectedness of different creative fields and the importance of collaboration and adaptability. As he continues to navigate the evolving landscape of game development, Alex remains a testament to the power of following one's passion and embracing new challenges.">
