Carlo from 4GQTV spoke with Gina Costanzo about her passion for music. Gina’s unique story encompasses overcoming challenges to follow her dream. Gina had a love for music that dates back to childhood. It led Gina to do musical theater and at the age of 17 she made it on NBC’s The Voice as a contestant.

Getting cast on the show proved to those who knew her that this was no longer just a hobby but the career Gina wanted. Facing anxiety about trying to please people with what she thought they wanted to see on The Voice, her mentor Gwen Stefani gave her some advice. That advice embarrassed her in the moment but was the drive she needed to be herself and let loose.

The next day, Gwen Stefani told her she did much better. That stuck with Gina as she navigated the music industry. Some obstacles made her want to quit but instead, she came back stronger. She found those around her who believed in her and now she tours with her friends and bandmates, Velvet Rogue.

Gina’s story can resonate with anyone. It’s a story of triumph of being yourself and following your dream. Gina is brave, courageous, and talented. With all the support she had from friends and immediate family she found the strength to come out as bi-sexual. I have interviewed many people but Gina’s story hits close to home. Being from PA, knowing the same venues in Philadelphia, and having a similar family background I am happy to see Gina follow her dreams. I hope it inspires others to feel free to be themselves and to love yourself.
